FIELD NOTES / CONSTRUCTION
BEFORE YOU BUY.
Scale construction is about believable motion and usable mechanisms, not just looking the part. The best experience comes from matching machine size, lifting system, ground material, transport, batteries and replacement parts. Start with an electric excavator to learn the controls, then decide whether a more expensive hydraulic setup fits your actual plans.
01
Choose the machine before the scale
A capable excavator is useless if your “jobsite” is full of compacted rock that its bucket cannot penetrate. Define the material and space first.
02
Understand electric versus hydraulic
Motorized actuators can be tidy and approachable; hydraulic systems reward maintenance and technical curiosity. Neither is universally better.
03
Plan an ecosystem
Dump trucks, loaders and dozers turn one moving machine into an actual project. Check scale compatibility before committing.
